Cody Beers

A Lifelong Lover of Libraries

Cody Beers’ journey with libraries began as a young reader in Cody, Wyoming, where the local public library became his sanctuary. Growing up on South Pass and later in Cody, Cody’s love for reading led him to a career in writing, from newspapers to public relations for the Wyoming Department of Transportation. His passion for libraries runs deep, inspired by his own experiences and the benefits his two sons gained from growing up near the Riverton library.

When his good friend Ernie Over invited him to join the Fremont County Library Foundation Board, Cody saw it as a perfect fit. He believes that strong libraries are essential to thriving communities and is committed to ensuring that Fremont County’s libraries remain vibrant and accessible to all.

Cody’s literary tastes are diverse, but he holds a special appreciation for the works of C.J. Box, particularly the Joe Pickett and Cassie Dewell series. He also admires Chris Madson, a premier conservation writer and former editor of Wyoming Wildlife magazine, where Cody spent 9 ½ years.

Given the chance, Cody would love to have dinner with Abraham Lincoln, to discuss his leadership during the Civil War, and with his childhood idol, John Wayne, whom Cody met as a 12-year-old boy—a memory he cherishes to this day.

Outside of his work and volunteer efforts, Cody is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting, fishing, photography, and exploring Wyoming with his family. Recently, Cody became a first-time grandfather to little Nolan, and spending time with him is one of his greatest joys.

Known for his easygoing nature around people, Cody has a unique perspective on life. He values the free exchange of ideas and cherishes the wisdom of older generations. Describing himself as an “old soul,” Cody believes in giving everyone a fair shot, even in today’s fast-paced world.

Cody’s dedication to libraries and his deep connection to his community make him an invaluable member of the Fremont County Library Foundation Board.
